Abseiling through the Waitomo Glowworm caves is truly a unique experience which is reflected by the amount of celebrities that have done this tour; Tom Cruise (3X), Michelle Rodriguez and various prime ministers. It’s a relatively gentle tour physically but explained as “one hell of a head trip”, if you are looking for something more adventurous than the popular boat tour through the caves this is the perfect alternative!
Auckland and Beyond Tours will pick you up in a luxury private Mercedes vehicle from your centrally located Auckland Hotel. Our guide will provide a full commentary during the two-and-a-half-hour scenic drive south to Waitomo. On arrival you will be taken through to your Waitomo Adventures expert local guide for your 4-hour Lost World Experience. The friendly guide will ensure you have the necessary safety gear and stay with you at all times on their separate rope.
Your group tour dry cave experience starts with a 20-minute, 100 metre free hanging abseil into the incredible caves. Once at the bottom you can explore the surreal flowstone formations and marvel at the thousands of tiny glowing creatures called “Arachnocampa Luminosa” also known as glowworms. Your guide will then assist you back up the 30 metre ladder and enjoy an easy stroll through bush back to where the tour began.
Auckland and Beyond Tours will then take you back through the breathtaking New Zealand scenery and return you safely to your hotel.
