The Waimangu Valley, located near Rotorua, is home to volcanic craters, hot water springs, native plants and a wide array of birds.
The name “Waimangu” means “black water”, due to the presence of the enormous geyser that played there between the 1900 and 1904, the largest recorded geyser in the world.
We start the tour picking you up from Auckland CBD, and then we move to the Bay of Plenty, enjoying a three-hour drive with a scenic stop on the way.
On arrival, you will receive the valley maps to start your self-guided tour through the Valley to explore the Inferno Crater, the world’s largest Crypto Geyser. You will also get a chance to see The Frying Pan Lake, one of the largest hot pools in the world, characterized by steaming water.
During the walks, you will have time to take photos and to enjoy this amazing natural place, untouched by man.
Once you finish your hike, we make our way back to Auckland CBD.
For an enhanced experience you can add Lake Rotomahana Boat Cruise; it is about 45 minutes cruise to see thermal activities which are not visible on foot. Additional $65 Per Person
